Ahmedabad is in the state of Gujarat in India. It is a bustling city with some beautiful architecture and interesting history.

Some of the highlights for me were: the Heritage Walk in the old city; the Gandhi Ashram, where we learnt about one of the most prominent leaders in the campaign for India’s independance; the Shreya’s Museum of Folk Art, which was in my grandad’s old school.

We stayed in a heritage hotel called the House of MG, built by Mangaldas Girdhardas. The tour of the building was really informative, as the decor and construction was very symbolic. It was an incredible place to stay!

I just wrote you a long email but lost it as I couldn’t spell Himachal Pradesh!! I was saying, I love your blogs as they are mostly of places we went to but you do them in such a fun way. We also stayed in the house of MG and also, when we went back again, in the MG Havelli which we preferred. It’s blissfully small and in the heart of the old town next to the night market, but it’s absolutely quiet and peaceful. Did you see the fantastic tree of life windows in the Sid Sayyid mosque opposite MG House? (I can’t look up spellings or else I’ll loose it again!!). It was truly magnificent. Did you go to Nagaur (spelling) or Bundi. If not something to go back for. Did you do Holi in India? We were in Bundi and it was the most fantastic fun. Everyone was so lovely. Even the cows got painted! I think Bundi has 50 stepwells and the fort is wonderful if a bit of a schlep up to it! We should compare trips. I write a diary too though it would have to be edited. Please send your whole Indian trip. You do it so well. The Juna Mahal in Dungarpur is fabulous as well. Keep writing, love Loveday
