Mt. Bromo is an active volcano, located in East Java. We had to wake up at 2 a.m. to go! We went to a viewpoint to watch sunrise over it before scaling it.

The sunrise view was beautiful, the sun tentatively stroking the sky as dawn broke free from the merciless grip of night. The group of volcanos spread out in front of us, Mt. Sumeru puffing out smoke in titanic gushes. (Sumeru was the name of my dad’s old house and means ‘golden mountain’ in our religion) It was incredible!

The volcano was also amazing! You can look down into the crater and see the acidic sulphur lake spooling out. Some of the rim is off limits, as it is too dangerous to walk through. The view was awesome; the vast expanse of the Sea of Sands, picturesque and huge and the other mountains and volcanos towering around you.

We stayed at Plataran Bromo, which was a really nice hotel and where Siddharth spent his birthday!

The photo of me and Siddharth on the jeep is actually a video, so please click on it!

Such a beautiful poetic description of your visit to Mount Bromo. Almost felt like I was revisiting the place.
